ADP‐ribosylation: An emerging regulator of the epigenome

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ADP‐ribosylation has emerged as a dynamic epigenetic signaling mechanism that modifies histones and chromatin‐associated proteins. Through coordinated PARylation and MARylation, it integrates with other histone modifications to regulate chromatin structure, transcription factor activity, and gene expression, influencing genome function and disease ...

Parallel decomposition approaches for training support vector machines

open access: yes, 2004
We consider parallel decomposition techniques for solving the large quadratic programming (QP) problems arising in training support vector machines. A recent technique is improved by introducing an efficient solver for the inner QP subproblems and a ...

MAPSkew: Metaheuristic Approaches for Partitioning Skew in MapReduce

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2018
MapReduce is a parallel computing model in which a large dataset is split into smaller parts and executed on multiple machines. Due to its simplicity, MapReduce has been widely used in various applications domains.

Castration‐resistant prostate cancer cells are addicted to the high activity of cyclin‐dependent kinase 2

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that emergence of castration‐resistant prostate (CRPC) is associated with significant upregulation of cyclins that positively regulate cyclin‐dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) and concomitant downregulation of CDK4 cyclins. This renders CRPC cells dependent on the high activity of CDK2, and CDK2 inhibitors synergistically sensitize CRPC cells to both ...

A Fast Implementation of Minimum Spanning Tree Method and Applying it to Kruskal’s and Prim’s Algorithms

open access: yesSukkur IBA Journal of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, 2017
In last decade, application developers attained improved performances by merely employing the machines based on higher-clocked processors. However, in 2003 multi-core processors emerged and eradicated the old processor manufacturing technology based on ...

Arginine methylation as a regulatory ratchet in cancer: From substrate selection to malignant‐state stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Arginine methylation can be viewed as a persistence‐prone post‐translational modification regulated by a network of PRMTs. Competitive and compensatory interactions among PRMTs can redistribute methylation across substrate pools shaped by sequence, structural, spatial, and environmental layers, reinforcing RNA‐processing, chromatin, and signaling ...

Scheduling Parallel Jobs with Linear Speedup [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider a scheduling problem where a set of jobs is distributed over parallel machines. The processing time of any job is dependent on the usage of a scarce renewable resource, e.g., personnel.

Space exploration using parallel orbits:A study in parallel symbolic computing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Orbit enumerations represent an important class of mathematical algorithms which is widely used in computational discrete mathematics. In this paper, we present a new shared-memory implementation of a generic Orbit skeleton in the GAP computer algebra ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.
