Robust multi-objective calibration strategies – possibilities for improving flood forecasting [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2012
Process-oriented rainfall-runoff models are designed to approximate the complex hydrologic processes within a specific catchment and in particular to simulate the discharge at the catchment outlet. Most of these models exhibit a high degree of complexity

Calibration Method for Industrial Robots Based on the Principle of Perigon Error Close

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
For the problem that the self-error of industrial robot calibration device has influence on calibration accuracy, a calibration method of industrial robots based on the principle of Perigon Error Close is proposed.

Calibration of a Manipulator With a Regularized Parameter Identification Method

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
As an inverse problem, the parameter identification of manipulators is essential to in-situ calibration. Since the ill-posed inverse kinematic model is sensitive to the measurement value, even tiny errors will make the geometric model of the manipulator wrongly identified.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Traffic microsimulation for smart cities: Investigating the impact of objective function formulation on calibration efficiency

open access: yesIET Smart Cities
Traffic microsimulation models are crucial for intelligent transportation systems evaluation, but careful parameter calibration is required for credible pre‐ and post‐ITS comparisons.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Accelerating Point Cloud Computation via Memory in Embedded Structured Light Cameras

open access: yesJournal of Imaging
Embedded structured light cameras have been widely applied in various fields. However, due to constraints such as insufficient computing resources, it remains difficult to achieve high-speed structured light point cloud computation. To address this issue,

A new sewage exfiltration model – parameters and calibration [PDF]

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2011
Exfiltration of waste water from sewer systems represents a potential danger for the soil and the aquifer. Common models, which are used to describe the exfiltration process, are based on the law of Darcy, extended by a more or less detailed consideration of the expansion of leaks, the characteristics of the soil and the colmation layer.

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Parameter regionalization of a monthly water balance model for the conterminous United States [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2016
A parameter regionalization scheme to transfer parameter values from gaged to ungaged areas for a monthly water balance model (MWBM) was developed and tested for the conterminous United States (CONUS).
