Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Genetic algorithm based parameter identification for parallel manipulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Kinematic calibration is a process in which the actual values of geometric parameters are estimated so as to minimize the error in absolute positioning.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

On the Dead-Zone in System Identification [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A prediction error method for parameter estimation in a dynamical system is studied. The following problems are treated in this paper:When is the DZ estimate inconsistent, and what is the set of parameters which minimizes the criterion in the case of ...

Parameter Identifiability and Redundancy in a General Class of Stochastic Carcinogenesis Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Heidenreich et al. (Risk Anal 1997 17 391–399) considered parameter identifiability in the context of the two-mutation cancer model and demonstrated that combinations of all but two of the model parameters are identifiable.

A multi-parameter overall identification method used for industrial robot force signal processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
For industrial robot force signal measurement, we proposed a multi-parameter overall identification method, the results of identification used to compensate six-axis force/torque sensor sampling data, can greatly improve the measurement accuracy of ...

Enhanced Raccoon Optimization Algorithm for PMSM Electrical Parameter Identification

open access: yesEnergies
This article proposes an improved algorithm for the parameter identification of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). An enhanced raccoon optimization algorithm (EROA) was formed by combining the raccoon optimization algorithm (ROA) with the ...

Zonotope parameter identification for piecewise affine system

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering, 2020
This paper studies one identification problem for a piecewise affine system which is a special nonlinear system. As the difficulty in identifying the piecewise affine system is to determine each separated region and each unknown parameter vector ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
