Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

System identification in production ecology: from theory to agroforestry practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper introduces a system identification approach to agricultural ecosystems. In particular, the identification of an agroforestry system, combining trees with crops, is subject of study.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

An Interactive Approach for Hierarchical Parameter Optimization

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2008
We propose a novel interactive parameter optimization technique which asks users to determine whether further exploration is required by using a hierarchical visualization technique. Our technique generates a k-d tree and uses the coefficient of multiple

Seismic Model Parameter Optimization for Building Structures

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Structural dynamic modeling is a key element in the analysis of building behavior for different environmental factors. Having this in mind, the authors propose a simple nonlinear model for studying the behavior of buildings in the case of earthquakes ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Parameter Calibration for Optimization under Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Optimization formulations to handle decision-making under uncertainty often contain parameters needed to be calibrated from data. Examples include uncertainty set sizes in robust optimization, and Monte Carlo sample sizes in constraint sampling or ...

Process parameter optimization for lateral flow immunosensing

open access: yesMaterials Science for Energy Technologies, 2019
Lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) is a widely used technique in the field of point-of-care diagnostics. Assembly of components such as sample pad, conjugate pad, nitrocellulose membrane (NCM), absorbent pad on the plastic backing laminate to prepare the ...
