Effect of different noise reduction techniques and template matching parameters on markerless tumor tracking using dual‐energy imaging

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the impact of various noise reduction algorithms and template matching parameters on the accuracy of markerless tumor tracking (MTT) using dual‐energy (DE) imaging. Methods A Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator was used to acquire a series of alternating 60 and 120 kVp images (over a 180° arc) using fast kV switching, on ...

A canonical space-time state space model: state and parameter estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The maximum likelihood estimation of a dynamic spatiotemporal model is introduced, centred around the inclusion of a prior arbitrary spatiotemporal neighborhood description.

Digital radiography image quality evaluation using various phantoms and software

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of the exposure parameters on image quality (IQ) metrics of phantom images, obtained automatically using software or from visual evaluation. Methods Three commercial phantoms and a homemade phantom constructed according to the instructions given in the IAEA Human Health Series No.

Storm Waves at the Shoreline: When and Where Are Infragravity Waves Important?

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Infragravity waves (frequency, f = 0.005–0.05 Hz) are known to dominate hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes close to the shoreline on low-sloping sandy beaches, especially when incident waves are large.

Hyper-parameter Optimization for Latent Spaces

open access: yes, 2021
We present an online optimization method for time-evolving data streams that can automatically adapt the hyper-parameters of an embedding model. More specifically, we employ the Nelder-Mead algorithm, which uses a set of heuristics to produce and exploit several potentially good configurations, from which the best one is selected and deployed.

Parameters in Banach spaces and orthogonality

open access: yesConstructive Mathematical Analysis, 2022
In Banach spaces, plenty of parameters have been considered: they are often defined by using pairs of vectors. Rarely, they are defined by considering pairs of vectors which are orthogonal in the sense of Birkhoff and James; in that case the study is often not easy.

Hough Transform Implementation For Event-Based Systems: Concepts and Challenges

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2018
Hough transform (HT) is one of the most well-known techniques in computer vision that has been the basis of many practical image processing algorithms. HT however is designed to work for frame-based systems such as conventional digital cameras. Recently,

Stable polyhedra in parameter space [PDF]

open access: yesAutomatica, 2003
A typical uncertainty structure of a characteristic polynomial is P(s)=A(s)Q(s)+B(s) with A(s) and B(s) fixed and Q(s) uncertain. In robust controller design Q(s) may be a controller numerator or denominator polynomial; an example is the PID controller with Q(s)=K"I+K"Ps+K"Ds^2. In robustness analysis Q(s) may describe a plant uncertainty.

Spatiotemporal Chaos in Coupled Logistic Map Lattice With Dynamic Coupling Coefficient and its Application in Image Encryption

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper proposes a new spatiotemporal chaos model, which is a logistic-dynamic coupled logistic map lattice (LDCML). Through a large number of simulation experiments and theoretical analysis, it can be proved that a chaotic region has the larger ...

Parameter space for magnetization effects in high-energy-density plasmas

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2021
Magnetic fields are well known to affect the evolution of fluids via the J × B force, where J is the current density and B is the magnetic field. This force leads to the influence of magnetic fields on hydrodynamics (magnetohydrodynamics).
