Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Winter Construction of 60 m Precast Railway Box Girders: An Investigation into Efficient Thermal Insulation Strategies

open access: yesBuildings
Large-scale concrete box girders are prone to early-age cracking because of the hydration reaction. To expedite the winter construction of large-scale precast box girders while mitigating the risk of thermal cracking induced by hydration heat, this study

Parametric WCET Analysis.

open access: yes, 2013
In a real-time system, it is crucial to ensure that all tasks of the system hold their deadlines. A missed deadline in a real-time system means that the system has not been able to function correctly. If the system is safety critical, this could potentially lead to disaster.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Parametric Study and Design of a Novel Bolted Endplate Rigid Connection Between CCFT Columns and Wide-Flange Beams

open access: yesEng
This study proposes a design method for a novel bolted endplate rigid connection between circular concrete-filled steel tube (CCFT) columns and wide-flange (WF) steel beams, with particular emphasis on the parametric behavior governing joint performance.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Parametric analysis of the influence of climatic factors on the formation of traditional buildings in the city of Al Najaf

open access: yesOpen Engineering
One of the key variables that can affect energy consumption in a building is the shape of the structure. The current study aims to balance the using solar radiation (lighting, heating, and cooling) and energy consumption by analyzing climatic factors ...

Parametric Analysis of the Wavelet Scattering Transform for Water Leakage Classification and Comparison With Manual Feature Extraction Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access
Water pipeline leakages create significant environmental challenges worldwide. Machine learning (ML) is widely used for leakage detection, often based on time and frequency features.
