Preferred solution, K12 – Appendix S - Parametric excitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The main purpose of phase 5 of the E39 Bjørnafjorden project is to identify and document which of the four described bridge alternatives that may be regarded as the best solution.

Rub-Induced Parametric Excitation in Rotors

open access: yes, 1979
Analysis is presented which explains earlier hypotheses and experimental results that circumferential stiffness variations induced by rubbing over a portion of a rotor’s orbit can lead to parametric excitation of half-speed whirl at a rotor’s natural ...

A conditional stochastic projection method applied to a parametric vibrations problem

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2014
Parametric vibrations can be observed in cable-stayed bridges due to periodic excitations caused by a deck or a pylon. The vibrations are described by an ordinary differential equation with periodic coefficients.

Regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1 by p53‐ΔNp63 crosstalk modulates the DNA damage response and therapeutic efficacy in HNSCC

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) p53 and p63 exert opposite roles on the transcription regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1. Under basal conditions, p53 levels are low and p63 represses NEAT1 expression. Upon genotoxic stress, p53 is rapidly induced, displacing p63 from the NEAT1 promoter leading to NEAT1 transcriptional activation and ...

Parametric Excitation and Instabilities of Spin Waves Driven by Surface Acoustic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research
The parametric excitation of spin waves by coherent surface acoustic waves in metallic magnetic thin film structures is demonstrated experimentally using Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy.

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Feasibility of parametric excitation of acoustic resonators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This thesis examines the feasibility of parametrically exciting a mode of an acoustic resonator. Such excitation may result in substantially larger amplitudes than by direct excitation, and would thus be useful in acoustic devices that require high ...

Beneficial effects of parametric excitation in rotor systems

open access: yes, 2009
For a long time parametric excitation in rotor systems was associated only with the gravity effect on the bending vibration of rotors with anisotropic shafts.
