Improved Modelling of a Nonlinear Parametrically Excited System with Electromagnetic Excitation [PDF]

open access: yesVibration, 2018
In this work, the nonlinear behaviour of a parametrically excited system with electromagnetic excitation is accurately modelled, predicted and experimentally investigated. The equations of motion include both the electromechanical coupling factor and the electromechanical damping.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

A Study on Parametric Amplification in a Piezoelectric MEMS Device

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
In various applications, damping from the surrounding fluid severely degrades the performance of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). In this paper, mechanical amplification through parametric resonance was investigated in a piezoelectrically ...

Attitude Stability of a Spacecraft with Slosh Mass Subject to Parametric Excitation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2003
The attitude motion of a spin-stabilized, upper-stage spacecraft is investigated based on a two-body model, consisting of a symmetric body, representing the spacecraft, and a spherical pendulum, representing the liquid slag pool entrapped in the aft ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Using Floquet Theory in the Procedure for Investigation of the Motion Stability of a Rotor System Exhibiting Parametric and Self-Excited Vibration

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The computational procedure for investigation vibration stability of a flexible rotor consisting of an asymmetric shaft, one disc, and supported by ball bearings is developed in this work. Lagrange equations of the second kind were used for derivation of

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

A Bit Stream Scalable Speech/Audio Coder Combining Enhanced Regular Pulse Excitation and Parametric Coding

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
This paper introduces a new audio and speech broadband coding technique based on the combination of a pulse excitation coder and a standardized parametric coder, namely, MPEG-4 high-quality parametric coder.

Formulation and experimental validation of a frequency transfer function of a rotor system with both an open crack and anisotropic support stiffness

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
This paper proposes a transfer function of rotating shaft system considering both an open crack and anisotropy in bearing support stiffness, which are both fundamental characteristics often observed in the rotating machinery.
