Molecular detection and genomic characterization of Samak Micromys paramyxovirus-1 and -2 in Micromys minutus, Republic of Korea [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal
Background The discovery of viruses in small mammalian populations, particularly rodents, has expanded the family Paramyxoviridae. The overlap in habitats between rodents and humans increases the risk of zoonotic events, underscoring the importance of ...

Small hydrophobic (SH) proteins of Pneumoviridae and Paramyxoviridae: small but mighty. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Virol
Small hydrophobic (SH) proteins are a class of viral accessory proteins expressed by many members of the negative-stranded RNA viral families Paramyxoviridae and Pneumoviridae.

The Evolutionary and Epidemiological Dynamics of the Paramyxoviridae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Evolution, 2008
Paramyxoviruses are responsible for considerable disease burden in human and wildlife populations: measles and mumps continue to affect the health of children worldwide, while canine distemper virus causes serious morbidity and mortality in a wide range of mammalian species.

Significant differences in nucleocapsid morphology within the Paramyxoviridae.

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2002
Nucleocapsid (N) proteins from representative viruses of three genera within the Paramyxoviridae were expressed in insect cells using recombinant baculoviruses. RNA-containing structures, which appear morphologically identical to viral nucleocapsids, were isolated and subsequently imaged under a transmission electron microscope.
