Environmental persistence and transmission dynamics of Serratia AS1 in mosquito habitats: advancing paratransgenesis for malaria control. [PDF]
Applied and Environmental MicrobiologyMalaria remains a major global health challenge, particularly in developing countries, necessitating innovative control strategies. With rising resistance of Plasmodium to drugs and Anopheles mosquitoes to insecticides, paratransgenesis—using engineered ...

Inhibition of carboxypeptidase b1 from Anopheles stephensi by the potato carboxypeptidase inhibitor: a foundational step toward paratransgenesis-based malaria control [PDF]
Malaria JournalVector-borne diseases such as malaria are a threat to global public health and the economy. These diseases were proposed to be managed and controlled by new preventive strategies such as paratransgenesis. This is an innovative technique that makes use of

Overview of paratransgenesis as a strategy to control pathogen transmission by insect vectors
Parasites and Vectors, 2022 This article presents an overview of paratransgenesis as a strategy to control pathogen transmission by insect vectors. It first briefly summarises some of the disease-causing pathogens vectored by insects and emphasises the need for innovative control ...

Exploiting venom toxins in paratransgenesis to prevent mosquito-borne disease [PDF]
Parasites & VectorsMosquitoes are responsible for the transmission of numerous pathogens, including Plasmodium parasites, arboviruses and filarial worms. They pose a significant risk to public health with over 200 million cases of malaria per annum and approximately 4 ...

Culturable bacteria associated with Anopheles darlingi and their paratransgenesis potential
Malaria Journal, 2021 Background Malaria remains a major public health problem in South America, mostly in the Amazon region. Among newly proposed ways of controlling malaria transmission to humans, paratransgenesis is a promising alternative. Paratransgenesis aims to inhibit

Combining transgenesis with paratransgenesis to fight malaria [PDF]
eLife, 2022 Malaria is among the deadliest infectious diseases, and Plasmodium, the causative agent, needs to complete a complex development cycle in its vector mosquito for transmission to occur.
