Validity and Reliability of Clinical and Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Multisystem Proteinopathy 1

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Valosin‐containing protein (VCP)‐associated multisystem proteinopathy 1 (MSP1) is caused by variants in the VCP gene. MSP1 results in various phenotypes including progressive myopathy, Paget's disease of bone, frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and parkinsonism, among others.

parkin mutation dosage and the phenomenon of anticipation: a molecular genetic study of familial parkinsonism

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2005
Background parkin mutations are a common cause of parkinsonism. Possessing two parkin mutations leads to early-onset parkinsonism, while having one mutation may predispose to late-onset disease.

Enhanced LSTM by Attention Mechanism for Early Detection of Parkinson's Disease through Voice Signals [PDF]

open access: yes
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by notable motor and non-motor manifestations. The assessment tool known as the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) plays a crucial role in evaluating the extent of symptomatology associated with Parkinson's Disease (PD).

Abnormal resting-state functional connectivity in progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Pathological and MRI-based evidence suggests that multiple brain structures are likely to be involved in functional disconnection between brain areas. Few studies have investigated resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) in progressive

Histone Deacetylase 6 Brain PET in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis‐Frontotemporal Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective [18F]EKZ‐001 is a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer targeting histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6), an enzyme responsible for intracellular transport and clearance of misfolded proteins. HDAC6 modulation is a promising treatment strategy in neurodegenerative disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.
