Evaluation Of Partial Discharge Measurement Circuits And Associated Calibration Techniques

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1985
This paper presents an evaluation of the RIV circuits used for the measurement of partial discharges. The results show that the NEMA 107-1964 RIV circuit, as presently used in high voltage laboratories, does not consider the entire calibration problem.

A critique of present calibration procedures for partial discharge measurements

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1993
The need for improved standardization procedures for use on different types of partial discharge (PD) measuring systems is discussed. This requirement is examined using recording and processing data of complex PD signals obtained from in-service electrical apparatus.

A Practical Approach for the Calibration of Partial Discharges Measurements at Field

2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D), 2018
Partial discharges (PD) measurements at field are a useful tool for predictive maintenance of high voltage equipment for preventing in service failures. This paper shows a practical procedure for the calibration of partial discharges measurements at field, when high frequency current transformers (HFCT) installed in equipments' grounding conductors ...

On-line partial discharge calibration and monitoring for power transformers

Electric Power Systems Research, 1999
Partial discharge (PD) is one of the major factors causing insulation damage of power transformers. This paper describes the development of on-line partial discharge monitoring system for transformers. The developed set can monitor up to four power transformers continuously.

Calibration of Partial Discharge Detectors for Pulse-Height Distribution Analysis

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1979
The effect of the calibration-pulse fall times, ranging from 0.52-56 ?s, on the response of partial-discharge detectors using a multichannel analyser has been investigated. Although the equalization of fall/rise time ratio results in a single peak distribution, the latter is sensitive to small variations in this ratio.

Towards improved calibration in the measurement of partial discharges in rotating machinery

IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2002
It is pointed out that an improved calibration strategy for partial-discharge (PD) detectors in rotating machine applications can only be achieved if the propagation characteristics of PD pulses are clearly understood, thus enabling the calibration pulse to simulate the discharge pulse more accurately as it appears at the detector terminals.

Research on the Calibration Influence Factors of UHF Partial Discharge Detector

2020 5th International Conference on Smart Grid and Electrical Automation (ICSGEA), 2020
Ultra high frequency (UHF) partial discharge detection technology has been widely used in on-line monitoring of electrical equipment, for the influence factors of UHF signal's transfer function is complicated, the calibration of UHF method is still not realized until now. In order to study the calibration influence factors of UHF partial discharge (PD)
