A Novel Technique of Overtube‐assisted Ultrathin Endoscopic Biliary Drainage Using Multi‐Hole Self‐Expandable Metal Stents: A Case Report

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the standard procedure for biliary drainage; however, access can be challenging in patients with altered anatomy or tumor‐related distortion. Endoscopic ultrasound‐guided biliary drainage (EUS‐BD) is a common alternative, yet it is not always feasible, particularly in patients with prior

Enhancement of adult liver regeneration in mice through the hepsin-mediated epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Given the widespread use of partial hepatectomy for treating various liver pathologies, understanding the mechanisms of liver regeneration is vital for enhancing liver resection and transplantation therapies. Here, we demonstrate the critical role of the

Novel Closure Technique With Double‐Balloon Endoscopy‐Guided Embolization by Gelatin Sponge and Clip Suturing for Postoperative Enterocutaneous Fistula With Bile Leakage

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT A 60‐year‐old female with abdominal pain and nausea was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer (cT3aN2M1, cStage IVB). Distant metastases had disappeared after 10 courses of chemotherapy, followed by conversion surgery consisting of subtotal stomach‐preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy, partial hepatectomy, and dissection of para‐aortic and regional ...

Glycyrrhizin attenuates endotoxin- induced acute liver injury after partial hepatectomy in rats

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2007
Massive hepatectomy associated with infection induces liver dysfunction, or even multiple organ failure and death. Glycyrrhizin has been shown to exhibit anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.

Protective Effect of LGG From Lophatherum Gracile Brongn. on Alcohol‐Injured HepG2 Cells and Exploration of Potential Mechanism

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 2, April 2026.
LGG was separated from L. gracile and its hepatoprotective effect was investigated. LGG significantly reduced the mortality, ROS and MDA content in alcohol‐injured liver cells. LGG up‐regulated 156 mRNAs (63 miRNAs) and down‐regulated 1529 mRNAs (35 miRNAs).

Nocturnal BiPAP Therapy Improved Chronic Respiratory Failure in Chilaiditi Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Chilaiditi syndrome includes the Chilaiditi sign, a radiological finding where a segment of bowel loop or small intestine has wandered between the liver and diaphragm and also any symptoms related to intestinal interference. Case Presentation We report the case of a 79‐year‐old man with Chilaiditi syndrome whose dyspnea and sleep ...

Safety and Efficacy of Anticoagulation Therapy in Paediatric Patients With Solid Tumours or Lymphomas at Risk of Thrombocytopenia: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with solid tumours or lymphomas have an increased risk of thromboembolism (TE) and thrombocytopenia. Evidence‐based strategies for anticoagulation therapy (ACT) for patients with thrombocytopenia are limited. We examined the impact of thrombocytopenia on ACT administration and bleeding incidence in children with solid ...

Anticipating postoperative complications in hepatobiliary surgery: procalcitonine as predictive factor

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery
Background and aimsFew studies have indicated that procalcitonin has a potential role in anticipating postoperative complications of hepatic surgery. Here, we focused on validating the relationship between posthepatectomy and serum procalcitonin as short-

Development of a Novel Synthetic Hydrogel Sealant for Effective Prevention of Liver Resection‐Associated Bile Leakage

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 6, 9 February 2026.
A dual‐crosslinking poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogel is presented that rapidly solidifies and progressively adheres to tissue, achieving durable sealing of bile leaks. In hepatectomy models, this system prevents postoperative complications more effectively than conventional sealants, highlighting its translational potential as a safe and efficient ...

Integrin β3 Orchestrates Hepatic Steatosis via a Novel CD36‐Dependent Lipid Uptake Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
In MASH, ITGB3 recruits LYN and drives its ubiquitin‐proteasomal degradation via phosphorylation. This relieves DHHC5 inhibition, enabling ITGB3/DHHC5/CD36 complex assembly to enhance CD36 palmitoylation and fatty acid uptake, thereby exacerbating disease. Targeting ITGB3 blocks this pathogenic axis and ameliorates MASH.
