Evaluation of Nigerian Animal Feeds by Particle-Induced X-Ray Emission
Biological Trace Element Research, 2005There is need to evaluate the locally available animal feeds in Nigeria so as to be able to combine them in acceptable proportions to the animals to achieve the desired growth rate. The technique of particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) was employed for the evaluation of these locally available animal feeds, which include Panicum maximum (Guinea grass)

Analytical Applications Of Particle-Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE)
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007In this paper a complex study of the capabilities of Particle‐Induced X‐ray Emission (PIXE) technique for the determination of major, minor and trace constituents of metallurgical, biological and environmental samples has been done. The elements identified in the metallurgical samples (steels) using PIXE were: K, Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Ni, Zn, W ...

A compact wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectrometer for particle-induced X-ray emission analysis
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1996Abstract A new compact wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectrometer has been developed for our compact high energy ion microprobe system (“mikro-i”). This spectrometer is designed to detect four light elements, boron, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. Using two multilayer X-ray analyzers, multilayer benders cut from a single metal block and a gas-proportional

Particle-induced X-ray emission (pixe) for detection of lead in mouse blastocysts
Reproductive Toxicology, 1991Mice were injected intravenously with lead chloride, 75 micrograms/g body weight. The mice were in an experimental delay of implantation, which offered the functionally steady conditions required for developing the testing procedures. One day after the administration of lead, blastocysts were flushed from the uterine cavity, placed on thin foils of ...

Distribution of Metals in Human Lung: Analysis by Particle Induced X-Ray Emission
Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1982Thirty-five lung pairs obtained during autopsy from randomly selected patients were investigated by particle induced X-ray emission for overall and regional elemental content determination. In each case the interbronchial lymph node was simultaneously processed.

Micron X-ray computed tomography based on micro-particle-induced X-ray emission
International Journal of PIXE, 2015Particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) is a phenomenon of atomic inner shell ionization and characteristic X-ray emission due to ion-atomic collisions. The intensity of continuous X-rays in the PIXE energy spectrum is much lower than that of characteristic X-rays. Therefore, PIXE can be used as a semi-monochromatic X-ray source.

Chapter 3 Particle Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE)
1988Publisher Summary The analytical use of particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) spectroscopy has become an important tool in the biomedical field, especially in those cases, where only small amounts of sample matter are available. An important feature of the PIXE method is that the background in the X-ray spectra that limits the power of detection is ...
