Entropic Splitter for Particle Separation [PDF]
We present a particle separation mechanism which induces motion of particles of different sizes in opposite directions. The mechanism is based on the combined action of a driving force and an entropic rectification of the Brownian fluctuations caused by the asymmetric form of the channel along which particles proceed.

MAGHEMITE PARTICLES FOR SPERMIDINE SEPARATION [PDF]
We report the optimal conditions for the separation of spermidine from different types of samples, for example blood or cancer cells and its subsequent determination by ion-exchange liquid chromatography (IEC) with UV-VIS detector. Here in, we synthesized paramagnetic particles able to isolate and immobilize spermidine from blood of patients with ...

Particle Collection of Electret Media under Different Filtration Pressures
Electret media have the advantage of enhancing the particle collection efficiency while keeping/reducing the media pressure drop by the electrostatic mechanisms in addition to the mechanical ones.

Centrifugal Separation with Emphasis on the Rotational Particle Separator [PDF]
AbstractA review is given of separation methods based on centrifugation. Attention is focused on separation of mixtures of gases and droplets. More particularly we consider: the method of gas centrifuges or ultra‐centrifuges to separate gases of different molecular weight, and centrifugal separators to separate droplets from gases.

Modelling of Mechanical Behavior of Biopolymer Alginate Aerogels Using the Bonded-Particle Model
A novel mesoscale modelling approach for the investigation of mechanical properties of alginate aerogels is proposed. This method is based on the discrete element method and bonded-particle model.
