A circuit modeling technique for the ISO 7637-3 capacitive coupling clamp test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we propose a transmission-line modeling technique for the ISO 7637-3 capacitive coupling clamp (CCC) test. Besides modeling the test bench, special attention is devoted to the CCC itself, for which an equivalent circuit is constructed ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Potential of an Anti-HTLV-I gp46 Neutralizing Monoclonal Antibody (LAT-27) for Passive Immunization against Both Horizontal and Mother-to-Child Vertical Infection with Human T Cell Leukemia Virus Type-I

open access: yesViruses, 2016
Although the number of human T-cell leukemia virus type-I (HTLV-I)-infected individuals in the world has been estimated at over 10 million, no prophylaxis vaccines against HTLV-I infection are available.

Membrane vesicles derived from Bordetella bronchiseptica: Active constituent of a new vaccine against infections caused by this pathogen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Bordetella bronchiseptica, a Gram-negative bacterium, causes chronic respiratory tract infections in a wide variety of mammalian hosts, including humans (albeit rarely).

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

Evaluation of passive immunity from dams previously immunized with an inactivated glycoprotein E-deleted infectious bovine rhinotracheitis marker vaccine after challenge infection with wild-type bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 in calves

open access: yesVaccine: X
Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoAHV-1) is a major cattle pathogen that causes infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) and other respiratory and reproductive disorders, resulting in substantial global economic losses to the cattle industry.

Comprehensive serologic profile and specificity of maternal and neonatal cord blood SARS-CoV-2 antibodiesAJOG Global Reports at a Glance

open access: yesAJOG Global Reports, 2022
BACKGROUND: Initial studies on COVID-19 in pregnancy have demonstrated a range of neutralizing activity, but little has been published on the full profile of SARS CoV-2 related antibodies in maternal and cordblood. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to describe

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.
