The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Evaluation of Oil-Film Thickness Along the Path of Contact in a Gear Mesh by Capacitance Measurement [PDF]
This paper presents a new method to evaluate the oil-film thickness in gears. By using high speed capacitance measurements in combination with an exact timing it is possible to detect the changes in capacitance along the path of contact.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Non-degenerate umbilics, the path formulation and gradient bifurcation problems [PDF]
Parametrised contact-equivalence is successful for the understanding and classification of the qualitative local behaviour of bifurcation diagrams and their perturbations. Path formulation is an alternative point of view.

Hydrodynamics of the Binary Contact Path Process
In this paper we are concerned with the binary contact path process introduced in \cite{Gri1983} on the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$ with $d\geq 3$. Our main result gives a hydrodynamic limit of the process, which is the solution to a heat equation. The proof of our result follows the strategy introduced in \cite{kipnis+landim99} to give hydrodynamic limit ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Contact Quantization: Quantum Mechanics = Parallel transport [PDF]
summary:Quantization together with quantum dynamics can be simultaneously formulated as the problem of finding an appropriate flat connection on a Hilbert bundle over a contact manifold.

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...
