The Hubbard model with smooth boundary conditions

open access: yes, 1996
We apply recently developed smooth boundary conditions to the quantum Monte Carlo simulation of the two-dimensional Hubbard model. At half-filling, where there is no sign problem, we show that the thermodynamic limit is reached more rapidly with smooth ...

Actuating and Sensing Composites of Liquid Crystal Elastomers and Poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conductive, mechanically tough, flexible, and stretchable filaments of a composite material comprising a liquid crystal elastomer and a poly(ionic liquid) are produced through 3D printing, which exhibit large actuation strain under stimulation and electrical resistance variation in response to deformation or environmental condition changes. Their

Research on Shortest Path Planning and Smoothing Without Obstacle Collision Based on Moving Carrier

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering
In response to the challenges of path planning in complex scenarios, to overcome the influence of optimal path determination by the precision of grid map sizes, and to escape the uncertainty in solving by intelligent algorithms, this paper designs a ...

Forecasting and policy making [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This chapter investigates the use of economic forecasting in policy making. Forecasts are used in many policy areas to project the consequences of particular policy measures for policymakers’ targets.

Fabrication of Pyridinic Nitrogen‐Functionalized Carbon Cloth for High‐Performance Iron‐Chromium Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The carbon cloth electrode with targeted pyridinic nitrogen doping, achieved via urea pyrolysis, effectively modulates the adsorption of Cr(II) species and enhances electron transfer, leading to significantly improved kinetics of the Cr(II)/Cr(III) reaction. The material demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 689.3 mAh and an energy efficiency of 72.

Limit linear series for curves not of compact type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce a notion of limit linear series for nodal curves which are not of compact type. We give a construction of a moduli space of limit linear series, which works also in smoothing families, and we prove a corresponding specialization result.
