Co‐Designing Solutions to Improve Communication About Serious Illness During Hospitalisation

open access: yesHealth Expectations
Background Serious illness conversations (SICs) that explore patient priorities are becoming increasingly important to high‐quality care for those with life‐limiting conditions admitted to general internal medicine wards.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

The Healing Pathway in Hospital Design: The Role of Hospital Structural Elements in Shaping Patient Experience and Implicit Healthcare Marketing [PDF]

open access: yesRāhburdhā-yi Mudīriyyat dar Niẓām-i Salāmat
The health facility environment is more than a backdrop to care; it is a key contributor to the quality of health care as perceived by patients. Evidence-based design—through lighting, layout, and wayfinding—reduces stress, enhances safety, and boosts ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

A new approach to planning in vitro and in vivo experiments for cardiovascular stents – II. Planning of experiment (abstract) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Within our overall project to improve the design of stents in terms of reduced rates of re-stenosis, there are three main methods, namely computer simulation and in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

User Experience Development in Elderly Heart Patient Monitoring System

open access: yesJurnal Nasional Teknik Elektro dan Teknologi Informasi
Heart disease is a major global cause of death, particularly among the elderly. Elderly often face challenges in accessing healthcare due to physical and cognitive limitations, making remote health monitoring systems a crucial solution.
