Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Quantifying the impact of coefficient of thermal expansion of overlay concrete on unbonded concrete overlay performance

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
With the advancement in pavement design and performance analysis procedures, the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of concrete has emerged as a significant design input with a direct impact on concrete pavement performance parameters including ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Mixture Strength Class and Slab Dimensions’ Effect on The Precast Concrete Pavement Structural Performance

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2019
Mechanical properties and slab dimensions of concrete are the major parameters based on which the performance of concrete pavement structures is predicted.

Evaluation of pavement service life using AASHTO 1972 and mechanistic-empirical pavement design guides

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2023
Service life is often used by state transportation agencies to evaluate alternative flexible pavement designs. The design that keeps the pavement in acceptable condition longest before it needs another maintenance treatment is the preferred design. For a

DESIGN AND PROPERTIES OF HOT MIXTURE POROUS ASPHALT FOR SEMI-FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT APPLICATIONS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Semi-flexible pavement consists of selected porous asphalt mixture filled with cementitious slurry. This new type of pavement has prospects to be designed as a high deformation resistant pavement (Setyawan et al, 2001).

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
