Microbial diversity in lake sediments detected by PCR-DGGE
Frontiers of Biology in China, 2008In this study, PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) was applied to analyze the microbial communities in lake sediments from Lake Xuanwu, Lake Mochou in Nanjing and Lake Taihu in Wuxi. Sediment samples from seven locations in three lakes were collected and their genomic DNAs were extracted.

Application of PCR-DGGE for Identification Microflora of Kulen
2002The microbiology of fermented sausages is varied and complex. The type of microflora that develops is often closely related to the rippening technique utilized. Manufacturing of fermented sausages has a long tradition in croatian region Slavonija. Kulen sausage is an indigenous croatian product.

Diversity of bacterial population of table olives assessed by PCR-DGGE analysis
Food Microbiology, 2012Nocellara Etnea and Geracese table olives are produced according to traditional process, in which lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts are the dominant microorganisms. With the aim to evaluate the effect of selected starter cultures on dynamics of bacterial population during fermentation and on growth/survival of Listeria spp.

Microbiological characterisation of Robiola di Roccaverano cheese using PCR–DGGE
Food Microbiology, 2008The aim of this study was the microbiological characterisation of a typical Italian cheese "Robiola di Roccaverano" with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Fresh and ripened robiola samples were collected from four artisanal and one industrial producer.

Analysis of the large bowel microbiota of colitic mice using PCR/DGGE
Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2005To test combined polymerase chain reaction amplification of 16S rRNA gene sequences and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR/DGGE) as an analytical method to investigate the composition of the large bowel microbiota of mice during the development of colitis. The colonic microbiota of formerly germfree interleukin 10 (IL-10)-deficient mice that ...

Detection, isolation, and identification of cadmium-resistant bacteria based on PCR-DGGE
Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2007This study focused on the screening of cadmium-resistant bacterial strains from Pb-Zn tailing. We investigated the diversity of microbial community inhabiting Dong-san-cha Pb-Zn tailing in Beijing, China, by polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) of 16S rRNA gene of bacterial strain, and found two dominant strains in ...

Evaluation of PCR-DGGE methodology to monitor fungal communities on grapes.
Journal of applied microbiology, 2009Some fungi present on the surface of grapes may have a negative effect on the quality of wine. The aim of this study was to evaluate PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE), for the establishment of fungal community profiles from grapes, in order to monitor fungi potentially involved in wine defects.A fragment of the beta-tubulin gene ...

PCR-DGGE analysis of aspirates from chronic rhinosinusitis patients
International Congress Series, 2006Abstract Middle meatus aspirates from patients with chronic rhinosinusitis were analysed by bacterial culture and non-culture techniques. PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis detected a greater bacterial diversity than culture methods. There was evidence of substantial changes in the predominant bacteria over time and two species of non ...

Side effects of antibiotics on the intestinal microflora by PCR-DGGE.
Pakistan journal of pharmaceutical sciences, 2013Antibiotics are recommended for use in the treatment of infectious diseases, but the side effects have not been thoroughly investigated, especially on the intestinal tract. Fluoroquinolones, macrolides and β-lactams were tested the side effects on the intestinal microbflora of mice in this study.
