Study of the bacterial diversity of foods: PCR-DGGE versus LH-PCR

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Microbiology, 2017
The present study compared two culture-independent methods, polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) and length-heterogeneity polymerase chain reaction (LH-PCR), for their ability to reveal food bacterial microbiota.

Safety evaluation and bacterial community of kung-som using PCR-DGGE technique [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2016
This study evaluates the safety of kung-som which was distributed in local markets and using PCR-DGGE technique to identify microflora in kung-som. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were found at counts of more than 7 log CFU g-1 in all samples and the total ...

Approach to analyze the diversity of myxobacteria in soil by semi-nested PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) based on taxon-specific gene. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The genotypic diversity of insoluble macromolecules degraded myxobacteria, provided an opportunity to discover new bacterial resources and find new ecological functions.

Diversity of Marine Microbes by PCR-DGGE

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Fisheries Society, 2007
Recently, the development of various culture-independent identification techniques for environmental microbes has greatly enhanced our knowledge of microbial diversity. In particular, denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) of 16S rDNA fragments, generated using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is frequently used to examine the diversity of ...

Are Bifidobacterium Species Key Players in the Progression of Type 1 Diabetes? A Systematic Review. [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinol Diabetes Metab
Bifidobacterium are generally considered beneficial bacteria, and are found in probiotic formulations currently being trialled for type 1 diabetes (T1D) prevention. In this systematic review, we find that there is a reduction in Bifidobacterium species after T1D diagnosis and an increase or no change in Bifidobacterium abundance in those at risk of T1D.

Detection of Listeria pathogens by gradient/constant denaturing gel electrophoresis [PDF]

open access: yesBulgarian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2018
Listeriosis is a serious, but preventable disease, and the virulence factor of this disease is produced only by the two pathogenic species L. monocytogenes and L. ivanovii in humans and/or animals.
