PCV3 in Thailand: Molecular epidemiology and relationship with PCV2

Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2021
Porcine circovirus type 3 has been circulating throughout the world and since their first report, various clinical signs and disease developments have been documented. The virus is similar to the closely related PCV2 and is associated with several clinical signs called porcine circovirus-associated diseases (PCVAD).

PCV3-associated reproductive failure in pig herds in Brazil

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2022
Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) has been widely detected worldwide in healthy and sick pigs. Recently its association with clinical disease and reproductive failure has been proven through the detection of intralesional viral mRNA in affected pigs. This study aims to describe the occurrence of PCV3-associated reproductive failure (abortions) in sow ...

Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) shedding in sow colostrum

Veterinary Microbiology, 2018
The major objective of this work was to investigate the shedding of porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) in sow colostrum. PCV3 titers in the serum and colostrum samples of 38 sows were determined using qPCR. Interestingly, this is the first report regarding the identification of PCV3 from the colostrum samples.

Detection and genetic characterization of porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) in pigs in India

Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2020
Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3), a novel circovirus, has been reported recently from major swine growing countries globally, and the virus is associated with diseases like porcine dermatitis, nephropathy syndrome and reproductive failure. This report describes the identification of PCV3 associated with reproductive failure in sows and piglet mortality

Porcine parvovirus-7 (PPV7) has frequent co-infections with porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) in sows with reproductive failure and may promote PCV3 viremia

2022
Porcine parvoviruses (PPVs) and porcine circoviruses (PCVs) infect pigs worldwide, with PPV1-7 and PCV2 infections common in pigs. Although PPV7 was only identified in 2016, co-infection of PPV7 and PCV2 is already common and PPV7 may stimulate PCV2 replication. PCV3, a novel type of circovirus, is prevalent worldwide and believed to cause reproductive

What do we know about porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) diagnosis so far?: A review

Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2021
Porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) was first discovered in 2016, almost concomitantly by two groups of researchers in the United States. The novel case was reported in a group of sows with chronic reproductive problems with clinical presentation alike porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS), where metagenomic sequencing revealed a genetically ...
