Abstract Aims Myocardial inflammation and impaired mitochondrial oxidative capacity are hallmarks of heart failure (HF) pathophysiology. The extent of myocardial inflammation in patients suffering from ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and its association with mitochondrial energy metabolism are unknown.

Partial Differential Equations for 3D Data Compression and Reconstruction [PDF]
This paper describes a PDE-based method for 3D reconstruction of surface patches. The PDE method is exploited using data obtained from standard 3D scanners.

Cilostazol in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction—The CLIP‐HFpEF trial
• Cilostazol is an oral PDE‐3 inhibitor that may have advantageous effects in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). • Cilostazol significantly improved short‐term heart failure‐related health status scores (KCCQ‐12) and NT‐proBNP levels when compared to placebo.

Adaptive Uncertainty-Penalized Model Selection for Data-Driven PDE Discovery
We propose a new parameter-adaptive uncertainty-penalized Bayesian information criterion (UBIC) to discover the stable governing partial differential equation (PDE) composed of a few important terms.

Asymmetry in crystal facet dynamics of homoepitaxy by a continuum model
In the absence of external material deposition, crystal surfaces usually relax to become flat by decreasing their free energy. We study an asymmetry in the relaxation of macroscopic plateaus, facets, of a periodic surface corrugation in 1+1 dimensions ...

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Precision therapies for genetic epilepsies in 2025: Promises and pitfalls
Abstract By targeting the underlying etiology, precision therapies offer an exciting paradigm shift to improve the stagnant outcomes of drug‐resistant epilepsies, including developmental and epileptic encephalopathies. Unlike conventional antiseizure medications (ASMs) which only treat the symptoms (seizures) but have no effect on the underlying ...

Preparation and Characterization of 5′-Phosphodiesterase from Barley Malt Rootlets
Two 5′- phosphodiesterases (5′-PDE-a and 5′-PDE-b) were isolated from barley malt rootlets, and further purified by gel filtration on Sephadex G-25 and Sephadex G-75.

Background The anti-inflammatory effects of the selective phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors cilostazol (PDE 3), RO 20-1724 (PDE 4) and sildenafil (PDE 5) were examined in a murine model of allergic asthma.

A numerical model of variable‐speed pumped storage unit (VSPSU) with full‐size converter (FSC) under fast speed control strategy is established. Additionally, the correctness of the model was validated by comparing with SIMSEN simulation results and text prototype data from NARI.
