Optimization of 3D‐Printed Structured Packings—Current State and Future Developments

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This paper gives an overview about structured packing development for distillation, surveying heuristic development cycles, computational fluid dynamics simulations, and additive manufacturing techniques. The emerging application of shape optimization to improve packings is emphasized, and its benefits, impact, and limitations are discussed.

Image Denoise by Fourth-Order PDE Based on the Changes of Laplacian

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2008
Fourth-order partial differential equation (PDE) proposed by You and Kaveh (You-Kaveh fourth-order PDE), which replaces the gradient operator in classical second-order nonlinear diffusion methods with a Laplacian operator, is able to avoid blocky effects

All the lowest order PDE for spectral gaps of Gaussian matrices

open access: yes, 2010
Tracy-Widom (TW) equations for one-matrix unitary ensembles (UE) (equivalent to a particular case of Schlesinger equations for isomonodromic deformations) are rewritten in a general form which allows one to derive all the lowest order equations (PDE) for

A Mixed PDE/Monte Carlo approach as an efficient way to price under high-dimensional systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose to price derivatives modelled by multi-dimensional systems of stochastic di fferential\ud equations using a mixed PDE/Monte Carlo approach.

Advanced control of non‐isothermal axial dispersion tubular reactors with recycle‐induced state delay

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a delay‐aware estimation and control framework for a non‐isothermal axial dispersion tubular reactor modelled as a coupled parabolic‐hyperbolic PDE system with recycle‐induced state delay. The infinite‐dimensional dynamics are preserved without spatial discretization by representing the delay as a transport PDE and adopting a late ...

Invariant Measure and Universality of the 2D Yang–Mills Langevin Dynamic

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We prove that the Yang–Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two‐dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge‐fixing and Bourgain's method for invariant measures ...

A personal distributed environment for future mobile systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A Personal Distributed Environment (PDE) embraces a user-centric view of communications that take place against a backdrop of multiple user devices, each with its distinct capabilities, in physically separate locations. This paper provides an overview of

Numerical simulation study on the evolution of the temperature field and frozen wall in fractured rock mass

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The evolution of the temperature field and frozen wall under different fracture conditions was examined by an artificial ground freezing‐based thermal‐hydraulic coupled model. It was observed that fracture inclination affects the interaction extent of freezing pipes and fracture, while phase transition extent is the dominant factor for heat transfer in

Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Phenomenological Remarks on Love-Eros

open access: yesPhilosophies
This article attempts to discuss the phenomenological status of love considered as an erotic phenomenon. Is care a kind of desire? A will? A modality of attention? A feeling? Is it rather an existential attitude towards its object?
