A green and optimized approach for lactic acid recovery from fermented molasses using n‐butanol for local industrial applications in Côte d’Ivoire

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Lactic acid is a valuable organic compound with wide applications in the pharmaceutical, food, and biodegradable plastics industries. As Côte d’Ivoire seeks to strengthen its industrial capacity and promote sustainable practices, the development of efficient and environmentally benign methods for the recovery and purification of lactic acid ...

Approximation of bruise spot volume in pears in plots against deformation parameters

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2003
Pears of different varieties were compressed between two flat rigid plates in loading/unloading tests. The bruise spots appearing after room temperature incubation were analysed manually, and bruise spot volumes were determined.

Atherectomy With Multimodal Embolic Protection for Severely Calcified Femoropopliteal Lesions

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Severe calcification in femoropopliteal lesions remains a clinical challenge to achieve both the technical and long‐term success in endovascular therapy. Although atherectomy is an effective treatment for calcified lesions, it is associated with the risk of distal embolization, even with the use of embolic protection devices (EPDs), and ...

Participant and trial characteristics reported in predictive analyses of trial attrition: an umbrella review of systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials across multiple conditions

open access: yesTrials
Background Trial attrition poses several risks for the validity of randomised controlled trials (RCTs). To better understand attrition, studies have explored and identified predictors among participant and trial characteristics.

Static and dynamic tests of pear bruise sensitivity

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2004
The paper is a continuation of the preceding research of bruising sensitivity applied to different pear varieties. This study was based on quasi-static fruit testing in compression between two plates.

Bayesian clustering of multivariate extremes

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The asymptotic dependence structure between multivariate extreme values is fully characterized by their projections on the unit simplex. Under mild conditions, the only constraint on the resulting distributions is that their marginal means must be equal, which results in a nonparametric model that can be difficult to use in applications ...

Pears [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay\u27s first paragraph. A sweet, balding, elderly man waited patiently, crouched on all fours, behind the couch. His skinny frame, with yet a rotund belly, cast a shadow on the living room floor.
