In the Miocene Eoil Basin, SE Korea, topographic confinement‐controlled the architecture of surge‐stacked resedimented volcaniclastic beds. Near the channel axis, successive debris flow surges amalgamated into thick, clast‐rich deposits; towards less‐confined margins, flow transformation produced graded and stratified trailing divisions.

Drillcore BASE‐5B from the Stolzburg Syncline, Barberton Greenstone Belt, reveals a coarsening‐upward, river‐dominated fluvio‐deltaic succession transitioning upward to a fining‐upward, tide‐dominated‐estuarine succession. Abstract Investigating fluvio‐marine depositional environments from early geological times is of great importance, as they provide ...

Investigation of Point-Contact Strategies for CFD Simulations of Pebble-Bed Reactor Cores
This study numerically investigated the effects of various contact strategies on the thermal hydraulic behavior within a structured bed of 100 explicitly modeled pebbles. Four contact strategies and two thermal hydraulic conditions were considered.

Allostratigraphically defined mudstone packages show marked along‐strike thickness variation, interpreted to be related to shifting thrust activity in the orogen; loading cycles lasted about 750 kyr. Close to the orogen, the forebulge is mantled by shelly sandstone whereas far from the orogen, the forebulge is typified by organic‐rich mudstone ...

These findings confirm that the Campanian‐aged Bozbent Member turbiditic sequence in the Eastern Pontides was deposited in an extensional fore‐arc basin and therefore exhibits the petrographic and geochemical characteristics of passive margin sandstones.

The influence of particle shape on bedload transport in coarse-bed river channels [PDF]
This thesis investigates the influence of bed material shape on sediment transport in gravel-bed rivers. The approach involves a combined series of field and laboratory experiments.

The pebble bed reactor's cylindrical core volume contains a random bed of small, spherical fuel-moderator elements. These graphite spheres, containing a central region of dispersed coated-particle fissile and fertile material, are cooled by high pressure

Axial Dispersion and Back-mixing of Gas Phase in Pebble Bed Reactor
Despite the worldwide attended of pebble bed reactors (PBRs), there is a lack of fundamental understanding of the complex flow pattern. In this work, the non-ideal flow behavior of the gas phase which is used for cooling has been investigated ...

Murtoos and murtooized terrains are new types of subglacial landforms found in the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet (FIS) and Cordilleran Ice Sheet (CIS) regions. LiDAR‐based morphometric analyses have revealed substantial morphometric diversity among murtoos and murtoo‐related landforms, while sedimentological excavations have documented a wide range of ...
