Pectinase was found in the saliva of 23 species of aphids, one species of leafhopper, and one species of adelgid. The enzyme was not found in four species of aphids in their apterous form, and one species of psyllid, or in the saliva of the alate form of five species of aphids that contained pectinase in the apterous form.

In debarking the bark is removed from wood along the cambial layer. Pretreatment with pectinases improves the efficiency of mechanical debarking measured as reduction of energy consumption in a laboratory scale debarker. The effects of different pectinases vary significantly depending on the side activities of the enzyme preparations The main ...

Pectinases are a group of enzymes which hydrolyze pectin, one of the main polysaccharides in plant cell wall. These are distributed in many higher plants and microorganisms. Pectinases play a very important role in plants since they help in cell-wall extension and softening of some plant tissues.

Application of pectinases in beverages
1996Abstract Pectinases are necessary processing aids in the production of clear and concentrated fruit juices. Improving pressing and clarification, they are biochemical tools of first importance. In combination with hemicellulases and cellulases, pectinases can lead to fruits liquefaction.

Development of reproducible assays for polygalacturonase and pectinase
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2015Polygalacturonase and pectinase activities reported in the literature were measured by several different procedures. These procedures do not give comparable results, partly owing to the complexity of the substrates involved. This work was aimed at developing consistent and efficient assays for polygalacturonase and pectinase activities, using ...

Pectinases in Ditylenchus Dipsaci
Nematologica, 1967Extracts of Ditylenchus dipsaci were most active in decreasing the viscosity of solutions of pectin N.F., less active towards pectin L.M., and least active towards Na polypectate. Optimum pH for activity of extracts was 6.0 for pectin N.F. and pectin L.M., and 5.0 for Na polypectate.

Applications of pectinases in the commercial sector: a review
Bioresource Technology, 2001Pectinases are one of the upcoming enzymes of fruit and textile industries. These enzymes break down complex polysaccharides of plant tissues into simpler molecules like galacturonic acids. The role of acidic pectinases in bringing down the cloudiness and bitterness of fruit juices is well established.

Pectinases of Thermophilic Microbes
2013Represented by archeal, bacterial, and fungal species, thermophilic organisms have been isolated from all types of terrestrial and marine hot environment. Pectinase from these organisms (thermophilic pectinase) developed unique structure–function properties of high thermostability and optimal activity at higher temperature.

Application of tailormade pectinases
1996Abstract Heterologous expression of pectinolytic enzymes has made it possible to tailormake pectinolytic enzyme preparations. Composition of pectinase products for existing applications can be improved, and products for new applications can be made.

Sequential production of pectinases byPenicillium frequentans
World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 1995The pectinases produced byPenicillium frequentans were subjected to pectin- or sodium polypectate-PAGE. The fungus secreted one endo- and one exo-polygalacturonase during the first 10 h of incubation, either in media supplemented with pectin or in the absence of carbohydrate source.
