IDENTIFICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PECTOBACTERIUM CAROTOVORUM
2017The present study aims to identify Pectobacterium carotovorum, known as one of the most common soft rot causative agents using classical and molecular methods. Four different P. c. subsp. carotovorum strains from various hosts were obtained, two of which are causative agents of soft rot disease in potato and the other two in onion or pepper.

AbstractTo identify bacteria causing soft rot and blackleg in potato in Finland, pectinolytic enterobacteria were isolated from diseased potato stems and tubers. In addition to isolates identified as Pectobacterium atrosepticum and Dickeya sp., many of the isolated strains were identified as Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum.
