In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Role of turbulent separatrix tangle in the improvement of the integrated pedestal and heat exhaust issue for stationary-operation tokamak fusion reactors

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The magnetic separatrix surface is designed to provide the final and critical confinement to the hot stationary-operation core plasma in modern tokamak reactors in the absence of an external magnetic perturbation (MP) or transient magneto-hydrodynamic ...

Measurement of jet quenching with I_CP and I_AA,Pythia in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV with ALICE

open access: yes, 2011
This paper discusses the measurement of I_CP and I_AA,Pythia with ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment). An away-side suppression is found expected from in-medium energy loss.

Double-sided solar cell package [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
In a solar cell array of terrestrial use, an improved double-sided solar cell package, consisting of a photovoltaic cell having a metallized P-contact strip and an N-contact grid, provided on opposite faces of the cell, a transparent tubular body forming

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Banded transformer cores [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A banded transformer core formed by positioning a pair of mated, similar core halves on a supporting pedestal. The core halves are encircled with a strap, selectively applying tension whereby a compressive force is applied to the core edge for reducing ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Active Vibration Control Performance Comparison Based on Middle Pedestal Stiffness Using a Mobility Model and the Narrowband Fx-LMS Technique

open access: yesVibration
Vibrations generated from equipment mounted on ships radiate into the water and affect covert operation capabilities. Accordingly, various studies are being conducted to reduce vibration transmitted from mounted equipment.
