The role of the density profile in the ASDEX-Upgrade pedestal structure

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2016
Experimental evidence for the impact of a region of high density localised in the high-field side scrape-off layer (the HFSHD) on plasma confinement is shown in various dedicated experiments on ASD ...

Impact of the isotope effect on divertor detachment and pedestal structure in DIII-D

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Dedicated H-mode hydrogen experiments has been conducted at DIII-D and are compared to a similar deuterium dataset under a range of divertor conditions, revealing significant effects of the isotope mass on divertor conditions and pedestal behavior.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Study on the Pedestal Structure Analysis of the Shipboard Night Vision System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this thesis, we designed Stabilization Pedestal for ship and analyzed the structure and vibration. Stabilization Pedestal must be light in order to support the entire weight barking force when a ship needs a brake, centrifugal force when it is ...

Analysis of proportional conception of the historical truss Church of St. Martin in Dolní Újezd

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
The late-Romanesque St. Martin’s Church in Dolní Újezd was probably built in the mid-13th century. The nave has a wooden joist ceiling whose beams serve as tie beams too. The Gothic vaults above the presbytery date from ’30s of the 15th century.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Efficient ion beam generation in laser interactions with micro-structured targets

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The maximum ion energy and acceleration efficiency have to be increased for practical applications of intense ion beams produced by intense short laser pulses incident on a thin foil.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
