A pedigree is defined by a series of individuals connected by the bonds of parentage and possessing various characteristics, either attributes or variates, at one or several times. The unit from which any pedigree may be assembled involves an identity, a pair of parental identities, and a set of one or more characters, of the form of Fig. 1.

Pedigree analysis in the Brazilian Zebu breeds
Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, 2009SummaryZebu breeds play an important role in cattle production systems in Brazil. To assess the genetic variability from animals in the Herd Books of Nelore, Gir and Guzerat breeds, generation intervals, inbreeding, effective population size and parameters of gene origin (effective number of founders, ancestors and founder genomes) were calculated ...

Pedigree analysis of plasmid segregation in yeast
Cell, 1983We have used pedigree analysis to investigate the mitotic segregation of circular and linear DNA plasmids in Saccharomyces cerevisae. Circular ARS plasmids, which bear putative chromosomal replication origins, have a high segregation frequency and a strong bias to segregate to the mother cell at mitosis.

Abstract A product pedigree describes its design and how it was built and shows that it was built in accordance with the drawings and other documentation defining the product configuration. Evaluating the pedigree of a failed product can help to rule in or rule out hypothesized failure causes.

Monte Carlo analysis on a large pedigree
Genetic Epidemiology, 1993AbstractMonte Carlo methods for linkage and segregation analysis are applied to the HGAR1 pedigree. To address these data, the methods are extended in several ways. The results are compared with those provided by PAP. © 1993 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.

Enabling Pedigree Visualization and Analysis in tranSMART
2018This paper examines the relevance of genetic pedigree data in the context of medical research platforms. By surveying currently available tools for visualization and analysis of this data type and by considering possible use cases that could make usage of the combination of singular patient data and pedigree data, the advantages of integrating the data

Longitudinal data analysis in pedigree studies
Genetic Epidemiology, 2003Longitudinal family studies provide a valuable resource for investigating genetic and environmental factors that influence long-term averages and changes over time in a complex trait. This paper summarizes 13 contributions to Genetic Analysis Workshop 13, which include a wide range of methods for genetic analysis of longitudinal data in families.

Pedigree analysis package vs. MIXD: Fitting the mixed model on a large pedigree
Genetic Epidemiology, 1996Results of a simulation study with two methods of analysis of data simulated under the mixed model on a 232-member pedigree are presented. The programs Pedigree Analysis Package (PAP), which approximate the likelihoods needed in a complex segregation analysis, and MIXD, which uses Monte Carlo Markov chain (MCMC), to estimate likelihoods were used.

Ascertainment and Age of Onset in Pedigree Analysis
Human Heredity, 1973The method of pedigree analysis proposed by Elston and Stewart [1971] is extended to allow for variable age of onset and ascertainment via probands; the extension is not completely analogous to the ordinary method of (two-generational) segregation ...
