Steroidal glycoalkaloids in potato foods as affected by cooking methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2018
Potato and its products have become indispensable foods and snacks for most people. Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) occur in all tissues of the potato, and consuming potatoes with a high SGA content harms human health. Therefore, the effects of different

Experiments on the Peeling of Copper Coating Deposited Via the Electroless Method on Glass Beads

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2011
In this communication we are reporting, for the first time, results of peeling experiments carried out on spherical glass beads coated with an (approximately) micron-sized thin layer of copper.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging following epimacular and internal limiting membrane peeling - ipsilateral and contralateral findings

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2020
Purpose. The purpose of this study was to find out whether peeling of the epimacular membrane (EMM) and internal limiting membrane (ILM) for symptomatic lamellar macular hole (LMH), causes impairment of the visual cortex. Patients and Methods: This pilot

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Comparison the effectiveness of pyruvic acid 50% and salicylic acid 30% in the treatment of acne

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2016
Background: Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicles and one of the most common skin diseases. The peeling method has been recently found to be effective for acne treatment.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Peeling Plaids Apart: Context Counteracts Cross-Orientation Contrast Masking

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Contrast discrimination for an image is usually harder if another image is superimposed on top. We asked whether such contrast masking may be enhanced or relieved depending on cues promoting integration of both images as a single pattern ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...
