Optimal regime of the double-sided drift of lithium ions into silicon monocrystal

open access: yesPhysical Sciences and Technology, 2023
In this work, we show a new method for obtaining silicon-lithium semiconductor structures using the bilateral drift of lithium particles into silicon mono-crystal in order to create nuclear radiation detectors with a wide bandgap.

The Painterly Materiality of Clouds in Antony and Cleopatra and Hamlet

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines the cloud‐gazing scenes in Antony and Cleopatra and Hamlet through the lens of early modern artistic theory and material practices, particularly the art of limning. Building upon existing philosophical and poetic interpretations of Shakespearean clouds as metaphors for ephemerality and memory, the essay argues that the ...

On $X$-coordinates of Pell equations which are repdigits

open access: yes, 2017
Let $b\ge 2$ be a given integer. In this paper, we show that there only finitely many positive integers $d$ which are not squares, such that the Pell equation $X^2-dY^2=1$ has two positive integer solutions $(X,Y)$ with the property that their $X ...

Interpreting the Intensity of Vocal Emotions Across Cultures

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intensity is a fundamental dimension of emotions that affects their perception. However, theoretical and empirical studies on intensity, particularly in the vocal domain, remain limited. Furthermore, research on the effects of emotional dimensions (e.g., arousal, valence, and basicness) on intensity ratings remains sparse.

Perspectives of Disaster Resilience in Africa: Towards a Participatory Framework for Conceptualising and Measuring Resilience in Malawi

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability, Volume 5, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the concept of resilience as understood and operationalised by various humanitarian and climate resilience actors in Malawi. Findings revealed a fragmented understanding of resilience among stakeholders and highlight the need for participatory approaches, localised resilience assessments and context‐specific interventions ...

Pell's equation without irrational numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We solve Pell's equation in a simple way without continued fractions or irrational numbers, and relate the algorithm to the Stern Brocot tree.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures added some references, fixed typos, added remarks on Speeding up the ...

Fostering Climate Change Education for Effective Locally‐Led and Community‐Led Adaptation

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability, Volume 5, Issue 1, June 2026.
This study highlights the transformative role of climate change education (CCE), understood here as formal, non‐formal and informal learning that equips people with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to act as agents of change for climate mitigation and adaptation in enhancing locally‐led adaptation (LLA)—where local actors shape ...

An Improved Attack on the RSA Variant Based on Cubic Pell Equation

open access: yesCryptography
In this paper, we present a novel method to solve trivariate polynomial modular equations of the form x(y2+Ay+B)+z≡0 (mod e). Our approach integrates Coppersmith’s method with lattice basis reduction to efficiently solve the former equation.

Spin‐System‐Selective 2D J‐Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
A new family of experiments is presented that extracts the spectra of individual spin systems. Spin‐system‐selective 2D J‐resolved (SSS2DJ) spectroscopy reveals chemical shift information at "pure shift" resolution, while retaining multiplet structure in a simple 2D spectrum.
