Investigation of the Olive Mill Solid Wastes Pellets Combustion in a Counter-Current Fixed Bed Reactor

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Combustion tests and gaseous emissions of olive mill solid wastes pellets (olive pomace (OP), and olive pits (OPi)) were carried out in an updraft counter-current fixed bed reactor.

Evaluation of different Starch Binders on physical quality of fish feed pellets

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2022
Binders are the products that are used to bind, glue or hold the various feed ingredients together in order to maintain pellet integrity. For aqua-culturists, feed manufacturing is an expensive exercise due to the high cost of ingredients along with ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Taste-Masked Pellets of Warfarin Sodium: Formulation towards the Dose Personalisation

open access: yesPharmaceutics
The bitter drug, warfarin, has a narrow therapeutic index (NTI) and is used in paediatrics and geriatrics. The aim of this feasibility study was to formulate the taste-masked warfarin-containing pellets to be applicable for dose personalisation and to ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Morphological and ecological screening of different collections of medicinal white-rot bracket fungus Ganoderma adspersum (Schulzer) Donk (Agaricomycetes, Polyporales)

open access: yesItalian Journal of Mycology, 2019
The screening of morphological and growth characteristics of mycelial collections of medicinal bracket fungus Ganoderma adspersum (Agaricomycetes, Polyporales) of different geographical origins (Armenia, Georgia, Iran) on malt-extract agar (MEA) and ...

Experimental and Modeling Study on Reduction of Hematite Pellets by Hydrogen Gas

open access: yesMetallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2017
Gaseous reduction by hydrogen was performed for three types of hematite pellets, two from industry and one prepared in the laboratory. The reduction mechanisms of the pellets were studied based on the morphologies of the partially reduced samples.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Substantiation of manufacture technology development for the tablets of isosorbide dinitrate with modified release

open access: yesAktualʹnì Pitannâ Farmacevtičnoï ì Medičnoï Nauki ta Praktiki, 2019
Isosorbide dinitrate belongs to the group of organic nitrates, the oldest representatives of antianginal drugs, and today is the first-choice drug for purchase and prevention of strokes. High prophylactic efficacy of prolonged forms of nitrates should be
