AbstractA 7‐year‐old‐female goat was referred with a 3‐month history of chronic dermatitis, which partially responded to combined corticosteroid and antibiotic therapy. At dermatological examination diffuse alopecia, pustules and crusts were observed on the head, neck, dorsum and perianal area.

The term "pemphigus" refers to a group of diseases that are characterized by the presence of cutaneous or mucosal blisters and erosions, and antiepidermal autoantibodies. There are several case reports of neonatal pemphigus vulgaris in the literature. Although pemphigus foliaceus antibodies have been shown to cross the placenta, to our knowledge, this ...

We describe a girl who presented at the age of 12 years with a blistering eruption on the lower limbs. One week later, numerous new bullae and blisters were present. Skin biopsy for histology and immunofluorescent studies established the diagnosis of pemphigus foliaceus.

Pemphigus foliaceus (PF) and its endemic form fogo selvagem (FS) are autoimmune diseases characterized clinically by transient cutaneous superficial blisters. As opposed to pemphigus vulgaris (PV), patients lack mucosal involvement. Acantholysis in the upper epidermis is appreciated histologically.

Abstract Fogo Selvagem (Wildfire) is a cutaneous disease characterized by a specific epidemiology, generalized distribution of bullae followed by an exfoliative erythroderma, and frequently, a grave prognosis, if untreated. Its etiology is unknown and the pathogenesis only partly understood. The histopathologic hallmark is the presence of acantholysis

Figure 2. Newborn with flaccid bullae and denuded skin areas on her extremities. A 1-hour-old female patient was referred with skin erosions on her extremities. The patient’s mother was a 33-year-old, otherwise-healthy woman with a 6-year history of pemphigus foliaceus (PF).

Feline pemphigus foliaceus is an uncommon skin disorder in cats but still the most common autoimmune skin disorder seen in this species. It is a crusting dermatosis involving the ears, head, paws, and ungual folds primarily. Although cytology is helpful in supporting a diagnosis, biopsy of pustules or crusts for histopathology is required for a ...

Pemphigus Foliaceus and Pemphigus Vulgaris [PDF]
Pemphigus is a group of autoimmune disorders characterized by spontaneous intraepidermal blisters and epidermal-specific autoantibodies. Blister formation occurs by the histologically distinctive loss of epidermal cell—cell adhesion, termed acantholysis. The two major forms of the disease are pemphigus vulgaris (PV) and pemphigus foliaceus (PF). In PV,

Pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus
Current Problems in Dermatology, 1989Abstract The blistering diseases of the skin grouped under the term pemphigus comprise unique organospecific autoimmune disorders in which the epidermis is injured by autoantibodies. The clinical syndromes manifested depend on the specificity of the autoantibodies Present in the patient, i.e., pemphigus vulgaris (PV) autoantibodies produce ...

Nineteen new cases of pemphigus foliaceus are added to the 55 previously reported in 1961 to give a more comprehensive picture of the disease. It appears that pemphigus foliaceus is the same, whether the reaction is generalized or localized, so that the terms "pemphigus erythematosus" or "Senear-Usher syndrome" are no longer needed.
