ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) relapse of neuroblastoma carries a poor prognosis, and craniospinal irradiation (CSI) poses substantial long‐term toxicity in young children. We report a toddler with MYCN‐amplified neuroblastoma harboring somatic ALK R1275Q who developed extensive leptomeningeal relapse with paraplegia.

Deep Eutectic Systems as Novel Vehicles for Assisting Drug Transdermal Delivery
In recent years, deep eutectic systems (DES) emerged as novel vehicles for facilitating the transdermal delivery of various drugs, including polysaccharides, proteins, insulin, vaccine, nanoparticles, and herb extracts.

One of the major problems in delivering drugs via the dermal route is the very effective barrier function of the skin. The reason for the barrier function can be attributed to the intercellular lipids of the stratum corneum. They are arranged into bilayer arrays and a penetrating drug has to be soluble in them and then transfer sequentially from a ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Therapeutic and cosmeceutical potential of ethosomes: An overview
The main disadvantage of transdermal drug delivery is the poor penetration of most compounds into the human skin. The main barrier of the skin is located within its uppermost layer, the stratum corneum (SC).

2H NMR evidence for dynamic disorder in human skin induced by the penetration enhancer azone [PDF]
Penetration enhancers mediate trans-dermal drug delivery. The penetration enhancer dodecyl-azacycloheptanone (Azone(R)) was characterized in situ with H-2 NMR on human stratum corneum treated with either uniformly deuterated Azone(R) or penetration ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Molecular interactions between the penetration enhancer 1,8-cineole and human skin
Penetration enhancers are chemicals that temporarily and reversibly diminish the barrier function of the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum, to facilitate drug delivery to and through the tissue.
