Visible-light-promoted direct desulfurization of glycosyl thiols to access C-glycosides [PDF]
C-Glycosides are essential for the study of biological processes and the development of carbohydrate-based drugs. Despite the tremendous hurdles, glycochemists have often fantasized about the efficient, highly stereoselective synthesis of C-glycosides ...

Zwitterionic Heavier Pnictinidenes in Redox Catalysis. [PDF]
Zwitterionic pnictinidenes: A new class of zwitterionic heavier pnictogen species stabilized by bis(N‐heterocyclic carbene)borate ligands is reported, enabling the isolation of Sb and Bi in multiple oxidation states. These thoroughly characterized systems exhibit cationic character and engage in redox catalysis, facilitating catalytic ...

Oxidative Addition of C-F Bonds to the Phosphoranide Ion [P(C2F5)2F2]. [PDF]
The difluorobis(pentafluoroethyl)phosphoranide anion (λ$\lambda $4σ$\sigma $4‐phosphate) reacts with substrates containing activated C─F bonds (Rf = perfluoroaryl, ‐alkenyl, and ‐acetyl) yielding corresponding trifluorophoshates. The colorless solids exhibit a high thermal stability and are bench stable.

Anion-Π Meets H-Bonding: Tuning Synergy Through the Flexibility-to-Preorganization Transition in Anion Receptor Design. [PDF]
Three anion receptors combining both hydrogen bonding and anion‐π interactions are synthetized, involving different spacers in order to evaluate the influence of molecular preorganization and rigidity on chloride binding. The naphthalene spacer in receptor 3 leads to more effective anion binding compared to flexible or less‐structured systems.

Reaction of hydroxyl-quinoline with pentafluoropyridin. [PDF]
Reaction of pentafluoropyridine with 2 or 8-hydroxyl-quinoline under basic conditions in acetonitrile gives 4-oxy quinoline 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine derivatives in good yields. All the compounds were characterized using 1H, 13C, 19F-NMR and MS spectroscopy.

Charge density studies on 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro- and pentafluoropyridine
Crystals of 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine and pentafluoropyridine have been grown by in situ methods in capillaries. The crystal structures of these compounds have been determined by X-ray diffraction up to high diffraction angles of 2θ = 100°. The charge density distributions of the crystals have been derived by multipole refinements.

Tetrahydropyrido[3,4-b]pyrazine Scaffolds from Pentafluoropyridine
[reaction: see text] Representative polyfunctional tetrahydropyrido[3,4-b]pyrazine scaffolds have been synthesized very readily by a one-pot annelation reaction of pentafluoropyridine with appropriate diamines. The trifluorinated pyridopyrazine products react sequentially with various nucleophiles to give poly-substituted tetrahydropyridopyrazines ...

Mesoionic N-Heterocyclic Olefins, Imines, Thiones, Phosphinidenes and Their Application in Catalysis. [PDF]
This minireview covers recent advances in the synthesis, reactivity, and metal‐free catalytic uses of mesoionic N‐heterocyclic olefins (mNHOs), imines (mNHIs), thiones (mNHTs), and phosphinidenes (mNHPs). Abstract Transition metal compounds are widely known for their ability to activate small molecules and are excellent catalysts for a wide range of ...

Dialkylamino compounds of group 14 elements (Si, Ge, Sn) in the +2 oxidation state supported by benzamidinate ligands were synthesized and treated with pentafluoropyridine. Two different modes of reactivity were observed, depending on the metal atom and the basicity of the substituent at the metal.
