Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

Electrophysiological analysis of transcranial direct current stimulation and its effect on cortical spreading depression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) allows for the noninvasive modulation of cortical activity. In this study, the effects of cathodal and anodal TDCS treatment on baseline activity in the motor cortex of rats were investigated via ...

Neural delays shape selectivity to interaural intensity differences in the lateral superior olive [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Neurons in the lateral superior olive (LSO) respond selectively to interaural intensity differences (IIDs), one of the chief cues used to localize sounds in space.

Stability of Sodium Pentobarbital 5w/v% Aqueous Solution During Short‐Term Chilled and Ambient‐Temperature Storage

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
The COVID‐19 pandemic made it difficult to obtain pharmaceutical‐grade injectable anaesthetics used in animal experiments in Japan. To address this problem, it is worth the effort to evaluate whether the use of non‐pharmaceutical‐grade sodium ...

Apoptotic Vesicles Derived from Mesenchymal Stem Cells Ameliorate Hypersensitivity Responses via Inducing CD8+ T Cells Apoptosis with Calcium Overload and Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The therapeutic potential of ApoVs derived from stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED‐ApoVs) in the treatment of CD8+ T cell‐mediated hypersensitivity reactions is noteworthy. SHED‐ApoVs are capable of fusing with the plasma membrane of CD8+ T cells, which subsequently triggers a series of events characterized by calcium overload ...

Polydopamine Nanohydrogel Decorated Adhesive and Responsive Hierarchical Microcarriers for Deafness Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A type of polydopamine (PDA) nanogel decorated adhesive and responsive hierarchical microcarriers for ALA delivery and deafness prevention. PDA@microcarriers can protect the encapsulated drugs from external disturbances and prolong their retention time in the inner ear.

Pinoresinol Diglucoside Attenuates Nuclear Receptor Coactivator 4‐Mediated Ferritinophagy Associated with Cisplatin‐Induced Hearing Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pinoresinol diglucoside, a bioactive component extracted from traditional Chinese medicine, attenuates cisplatin‐induced ototoxicity in vivo and in vitro. The protective effect is achieved by downregulation of Socs1. The present study is the first to investigate the expression and function of Socs1 in inner ear, which is known to promote ferroptosis ...

Assessment of molecular action of direct gating and allosteric modulatory effects of meprobamate (MiltownRTM) on GABA A receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Meprobamate (tradenames Miltown, Equanil) is a schedule IV anxiolytic and the primary metabolite of the muscle relaxant carisoprodol. Meprobamate modulates GABAA (gamma-aminobutyric acid type A) receptors, and has been described as having barbiturate ...

Muscle‐Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles Mediate Exercise‐Induced Cognitive Protection in Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
sEVs have a critical role in orchestrating interorgan crosstalk and mediating exercise‐induced therapeutic effects. Lin et al. demonstrates that sEVs miR‐17/20a‐5p mediates the muscle‐brain crosstalk and emphasizes the central role of mTOR signaling in executing molecular programs that can protect brain health in response to exercise. Abstract Physical

Hepatocyte growth factor gene therapy reduces ventricular arrhythmia in animal models of myocardial ischemia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It was recently reported that gene therapy using hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) has the potential to preserve cardiac function after myocardial ischemia. We speculated that this HGF gene therapy could also prevent ventricular arrhythmia.
