Abstract Introduction In border regions like the EuRegio Meuse‐Rhine (EMR), mobility does not stop at the border. HIV risk may therefore not only be determined by within‐country factors but also by between‐country differences. We explored between‐country differences in HIV indicators in the EMR using two complementary data‐driven approaches.

SIB1‐SEC23A undergo ER to chloroplast relocalization to mediate immunity in Arabidopsis thaliana
SEC23A mediates membrane trafficking between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus and interacts with the immunity protein SIGMA FACTOR‐BINDING PROTEIN1 in Arabidopsis. Under stress, both proteins relocate from the ER to chloroplasts, suppressing photosynthesis genes and enhancing defense genes.

Hulless barley resists the newly identified sheath rot disease caused by the necrotrophic fungal pathogen Dactylobotrys graminicola by releasing coniferyl aldehyde, a natural compound that disrupts energy production in the fungus. The small cyclic peptide CP32 effectively inhibits Phytophthora infestans, the causal agent of potato and tomato late blight. Combined biochemical and phenotypic analyses demonstrate that CP32 disrupts cell wall biosynthesis, a key process in pathogen infection, resulting in a marked reduction of disease symptoms in plants.
