Label-Free Detection of Salivary Pepsin Using Gold Nanoparticle/Polypyrrole Nanocoral Modified Screen-Printed Electrode

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Detection of salivary pepsin has been given attention as a new diagnostic tool for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease, because saliva collection is non-invasive and relatively comfortable.

Laryngopharyngeal Reflux: Symptoms, Signs, and Presence of Pepsin in Saliva - A Reliable Diagnostic Triad

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2021
Introduction Twenty-four-hour multichannel intraluminal impedance with double probe pH monitoring (MII-pH), though considered the most sensitive tool for the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is invasive, time consuming, not widely ...

Immunoserologic Pepsin Detection in The Saliva as a Non-Invasive Rapid Diagnostic Test for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

open access: yesBalkan Medical Journal, 2015
Background: The most common tool for the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is still 24-hours esophageal pH monitoring; there is lack of non-invasive, less expensive and accurate diagnostic tools for this frequent disease.

Interactions and effects of food additive dye Allura red on pepsin structure and protease activity; experimental and computational supports

open access: yesResearch in Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2021
Background and purpose: Today, color additives such as Allura red (AR) are widely used in different kinds of food products. Pepsin is a globular protein that is secreted as a digestive protease from the main cells in the stomach. Because of the important

Diagnostic utility of salivary pepsin in laryngopharyngeal reflux: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2023
Objectives: Salivary pepsin has emerged as a biomarker for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR), which, however, has been questioned for its efficacy due to a lack of supporting medical data.

Pepsin promotes IL-8 signaling-induced epithelial–mesenchymal transition in laryngeal carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2019
Background Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), with its increasing morbidity, is attracting considerable attention. In recent years, the causal role between LPR and laryngeal carcinoma has been debated.

A Pepsin-like Enzyme from Penicillium janthinellum

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1968
Abstract The acid proteinase, peptidase A, of Penicillium janthinellum which shows many similarities to pepsin is completely inactivated by diazoacetyl-dl-norleucine methyl ester. One equivalent of inhibitor becomes covalently bound to 1 molecule of the enzyme.

Freeze-Dried Tuna Pepsin Powder Stabilized by Some Cryoprotectants: In Vitro Simulated Gastric Digestion toward Different Proteins and Its Storage Stability

open access: yesFoods, 2022
The impact of maltodextrin (10%) in combination with trehalose or glycerol at different levels (2.5% and 5%) and their mixture on the stability of freeze-dried pepsin from skipjack tuna stomach was studied.

Mechanically Tunable Bone Scaffolds: In Vivo Hardening of 3D‐Printed Calcium Phosphate/Polycaprolactone Inks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bone scaffold with osteogenic properties and capable of hardening in vivo is developed. The scaffold is implanted in a ductile state, and a phase transformation of the ceramic induces the stiffening and strengthening of the scaffold in vivo. Abstract Calcium phosphate 3D printing has revolutionized customized bone grafting.
