A novel antibacterial peptide derived from Crocodylus siamensis haemoglobin hydrolysate induces membrane permeabilization causing iron dysregulation, oxidative stress and bacterial death [PDF]
Aims A novel antibacterial peptide from Crocodylus siamensis haemoglobin hydrolysate (CHH) was characterized for antimicrobial activity. Methods and Results CHHs were hydrolysed for 2 h (2 h-CHH), 4 h (4h-CHH), 6 h (6 h-CHH) and 8 h (8 h-CHH). The

A Radial Diffusion Assay for Pepsinogen and Pepsin
A radial diffusion assay for the determination of gastric pepsin and uropepsin is developed. Urine, gastric juice, or solutions of hog pepsinogen are allowed to diffuse radially from circular wells in agar gel which contains acid-hemoglobin. After a period of incubation, the undigested hemoglobin is fixed with acid-alcohol, and after drying, the agar ...

Pepsin extracted from the proventriculi of geese raised under different fattening techniques and its effect on microbiological quality and cheese production [PDF]
Goose pepsin is critically important in cheese coagulation, both in terms of variety and economics. This study was conducted to investigate the potential use of the pepsin enzyme obtained from the proventriculi of geese reared under intensive and ...

A Spectrophotometric Method for the Analysis of Pepsin
p-Nitrophenyl sulfite was found to be a suitable synthetic substrate for rapid spectrophotometric analysis of pepsin in gastric secretion. When this substrate was incubated with enzyme, the maximal rate of change of absorbance at 320 nm was found to be directly proportional to enzyme concentration.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Role of nitrite, urate and pepsin in the gastroprotective effects of saliva
Dietary nitrate is now recognized as an alternative substrate for nitric oxide (•NO) production in the gut. This novel pathway implies the sequential reduction of nitrate to nitrite, •NO and other bioactive nitrogen oxides but the physiological relevance

An injectable cold atmospheric plasma‐activated decellularized tumor extracellular matrix hydrogel is introduced as a post‐surgical immunoactivation platform. The engineered gel attracts residual tumor cells and induces immunogenic cell death, reshaping the tumor microenvironment and eliciting systemic antitumor immunity. In combination with checkpoint
