Synthesis of the Macrocylic Core of the Solomonamides, a New Class of Cyclopeptides of Marine Origin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Se describe estudios sintéticos dirigidos hacia la síntesis total de solomonamides, una nueva clase de ciclopéptidos de origen marino que presentan interesantes propiedades biológicas. La aproximación sintética se basó en la metátesis de cierre de anillo

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Energy-Resolved Mass Spectrometry and Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy for Purity Assessment of a Synthetic Peptide Cyclised by Intramolecular Huisgen Click Chemistry

open access: yesMethods and Protocols
Cyclic peptides have higher stability and better properties as therapeutic agents than their linear peptide analogues. Consequently, intramolecular click chemistry is becoming an increasingly popular method for the synthesis of cyclic peptides from their

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

cPEPmatch Webserver: A comprehensive tool and database to aid rational design of cyclic peptides for drug discovery

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal
Cyclic peptides have emerged as versatile scaffolds in drug discovery due to their stability and specificity. Here, we present the cPEPmatch webserver (accessible at https://t38webservices.nat.tum.de/cpepmatch/), an easy-to-use interface for the rational

Stabilization of Miscible Aqueous Phases via Diffusion‐Controlled Multifunctional Nanoparticle‐Ligand Complexation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Biomimetic Nanovaccine Integrating Dendritic Cell Exosomes with Tumor Cell Membranes for Sustained Prophylaxis Against Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed DEX/GM, an all‐natural, personalizable hybrid vaccine designed by coating dendritic cell‐derived exosomes (DEX) onto tumor cell membranes (GM) for sustained prophylaxis against glioblastoma (GBM). ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and lethal brain tumors, remains incurable with a poor clinical prognosis.

Antimicrobial cyclic peptides effectively inhibit multiple forms of Borrelia and cross the blood-brain barrier model

open access: yesScientific Reports
Infection caused by neuroinvasive Borrelia often manifests long-term CNS disorders and is difficult to treat as most antibiotics fail to attain an effective concentration within the brain or cannot kill the persister forms of Borrelia (cysts and round ...
