Brain Tissues Segmentation on MR Perfusion Images Using CUSUM Filter for Boundary Pixels [PDF]
The fully automated and relatively accurate method of brain tissues segmentation on T2-weighted magnetic resonance perfusion images is proposed. Segmentation with this method provides a possibility to obtain perfusion region of interest on images with abnormal brain anatomy that is very important for perfusion analysis.

Adapting and applying student-centered learning in a perfusion clinical rotation
While the process of teaching student perfusionists has been in development since the 1950s, the publication of the processes to improve perfusion clinical education has been largely lacking.

Hypothermic liver perfusion [PDF]
The review describes recent developments in hypothermic machine liver perfusion with a special focus on underlying protective mechanisms, and the role of this perfusion technique in high-risk donor-recipient combinations. To maximize the number of transplantable donor livers, several centres are exploring new machine preservation techniques.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Dexmedetomidine suppresses glucose‐stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic β‐cells
Dexmedetomidine decreases insulin release and affects glucose metabolism; however, the specific mechanism remains largely unknown. This study shows clinically relevant doses of dexmedetomidine suppressed glucose‐stimulated insulin secretion. There was no significant difference in oxygen consumption rate, intracellular ATP levels, or caspase‐3/7 ...
