Tannosomes in the Pericarp Cells of Maloideae (Rosaceae)

Doklady Biological Sciences, 2018
Data on the presence of structural units termed tannosomes in the pericarp cells of Maloideae has been obtained for the first time. Tannosomes merge in the vacuoles to form "tannoglobules."

Cellulose conversion of corn pericarp without pretreatment

Bioresource Technology, 2017
We report enzyme hydrolysis of cellulose in unpretreated pericarp at a cellulase loading of 0.25FPU/g pericarp solids using a phenol tolerant Aspergillus niger pectinase preparation. The overall protein added was 5mg/g and gave 98% cellulose conversion in 72h. However, for double the amount of enzyme from Trichoderma reesei, which is significantly less

Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins from Mangosteen Pericarps

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2007
Oligomeric proanthocyanidins were extracted from mangosteen pericarps and fractionated by a Sephadex LH-20 column to give 0.66% yield (dry matter). (13)C and (1)H NMR signals showed the presence of predominantly procyanidins together with a few prodelphinidin units along with small amounts of stereoisomers of afzelechin/epiafzelechin, catechin ...

THE STRUCTURE OF THE PERICARP AND TESTA OF BARLEY

Journal of the Institute of Brewing, 1984
Detailed microscopic study of the covering layers of the mature barley grain shows that beneath the husk the pericarp consists of highly compressed cell material bound by a thin outer cuticle. The testa is a double cell layer, also bound by an outer cuticle. An innermost cuticular membrane separates the testa from the remains of the nucellus.

Alternaria within the Pericarp of the Wheat Seed

Nature, 1956
IN 1951, Miss Hyde1 obtained from the basal internode (about 1–2 in. long) of flowering stems of Barsee wheat and from stems immediately below the inflorescence, under aseptic conditions in culture plates, Alternaria tenuis in 40 and 43 stems out of 70.

Essential oil of nutmeg pericarp

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1999
The composition of the volatile oil extracted by hydro-distillation from nutmeg pericarp and the component retention indices were determined by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry GC-MS The oil contains 16 monoterpenes (60%), nine monoterpene alcohols (29%), eight aromatic ethers (7%), three sesquiterpenes (1%), six esters (1%) and eight other minor ...

Phospholipids of the pericarp ofCrataegus turkestanica

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1996
Phospholipids of the pericarp of Crataegus turkestanica have been studied and 12 classes of phospholipids have been detected, the main ones being phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, and phosphatidylinositol. The composition and position distribution of the fatty acids of the main phospholipids have been studied.

14CO2 Fixation by Barley Pericarps

1984
Barley caryopses have photosynthetic ability (Duffus, Rosie, 1973) and evidence exists that excised wheat caryopses can assimilate externally supplied 14CO2 in the light (Radley, 1976). Stomata have been observed on the ventral side of the caryopsis near the apex (Cochrane, Duffus, 1979) and it is possible that atmospheric CO2 might be available to the

Lipids ofHippophae rhamnoides pericarp

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1995
The main indices and the fatty, acid compositions of the pericarp lipids of six varieties of sea buckthorn introduced into the Tashkent Botanical Garden have been determined. The lipids of the varieties Maslichnaya-5 and Zolotoi pochatok are enriched with carotenoids (276 and 276.5 mg%, respectively).
