Perillaldehyde Building Block’s Derivatives: Targeted Bioactivities and Molecular Docking

Letters in Drug Design & Discovery, 2023
Background:Recently, the essential oil (EO) of Ammodaucus leucotrichus has attracted particular attention in hemi-synthesis due to the reactivity of its main monoterpenes. Objective:In vitro cytotoxic and antileishmanial activities of the EO and hemi-synthesized compounds were evaluated, and an in-silico simulation was conducted. Methods:The EO was ...

ChemInform Abstract: A Convenient Synthesis of (R)‐(+)‐Perillaldehyde.

ChemInform, 1989
AbstractRearrangement of (+)‐limonene oxide (I), induced by complex organometallic bases, yields the diastereoisomeric allylic alcohols (II) which are treated with phenylsulfenyl chloride (III), producing the allylic sulfoxide (IV) due to a further rearrangement process.

Stereochemical aspects of the bioreduction of the conjugated double bond of perillaldehyde

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, 2004
A study on the regioselective reduction of the conjugate double bond of perillaldehyde is described. The chemical reduction of this substrate was investigated in order to provide a straightforward access to the relevant natural flavour, dihydroperill-aldehyde.

Gas-Phase Hydration of Perillaldehyde Investigated by Microwave Spectroscopy Assisted by Computational Chemistry

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2020
The microsolvated complexes of two equatorial conformers of perillaldehyde were experimentally investigated in a supersonic molecular jet coupled to a cavity-based Fourier transform microwave spectrometer, in the 2.3-8 GHz frequency range. The structures of hydrates C10H14O·(H2O)n (n = 1,2,3) were first optimized at the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) and B3LYP-D3BJ/

Calcium and oxidative stress mediate perillaldehyde-induced apoptosis in Candida albicans

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2017
New anti-Candida albicans drugs are needed due to the emergence of resistant cases in recent years. Perillaldehyde (PAE) is a natural monoterpenoid compound derived from Perilla frutescens. The minimum inhibitory concentration of PAE against C. albicans was 0.4 μL/mL. We aimed to elucidate the antifungal mode of action of PAE against C. albicans.

Recent development in biological activities and safety concerns of perillaldehyde from perilla plants: A review

Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, 2021
Monoterpene Perillaldehyde (PAE) is a major component of the essential oil extracted from perilla plants (Perilla frutescens), which has been used as a leafy vegetable and a medicinal agent. PAE has gained a lot of attention in recent years because of its antifungal and other microbial activities and, human health benefits.

Antibiofilm efficacies and mechanism of perillaldehyde against Shewanella putrefaciens

Food Microbiology
Shewanella putrefaciens is Gram-negative bacterium and important spoilage organism in aquatic products, negatively impacting the organoleptic properties of aquatic products. S. putrefaciens could form biofilm, which increases persistence and contamination in food system.

Perillaldehyde improves diabetic cardiomyopathy by upregulating miR-133a-3p to regulate GSK-3β

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2023
Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is part of the most important causes of death from cardiovascular disease. Perillaldehyde (PAE), a major component of the herb perilla, has been shown to ameliorate doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, but it is unclear whether PAE exerts beneficial effects on DCM. Exploring the potential molecular mechanisms of PAE for the

Efficacy and possible mechanisms of perillaldehyde in control of Aspergillus niger causing grape decay

International Journal of Food Microbiology, 2015
A variety of plant products have been recognized for their antifungal activity and recently have attracted food industry attention for their efficacy in controlling postharvest fungal decay of fruits. The antifungal activity of perillaldehyde (PAE) was evaluated against Aspergillus niger, a known cause of grape spoilage, and possible mechanisms were ...
