Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Substring Counting with Insertions

open access: yesAlgorithms
Substring counting is a classical algorithmic problem with numerous solutions that achieve linear time complexity. In this paper, we address a variation of the problem where, given three strings p, t, and s, we are interested in the number of occurrences

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Periodicity and ultimate periodicity of D0L systems

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1991
The paper considers periodic and ultimately periodic DOL systems see e.g. \textit{T. Head} and \textit{B. Lando} [Periodic DOL languages, Theor. Comput. Sci. 46, 83-89 (1986; Zbl 0628.68058)], \textit{T. Harju} and \textit{M. Linna} [RAIRO, Inf. Theoret. 20, 47-54 (1986; Zbl 0608.68065)] and \textit{J. J. Pansiot} [RAIRO Inf. Theoret.

Premières réalisations de la période dans le roman de chevalerie : Amadis en français et en allemand

open access: yesCahiers d’Études Germaniques
The romance of chivalry is a genre rather at odds with the period. Nevertheless, forms of complete argumentative movements, marked by syntactic complexity and programming the revelation of information, can be discerned in Des Essarts’ translation of the ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Three Spreadsheet Models Of A Simple Pendulum

open access: yesSpreadsheets in Education, 2008
The paper gives three spreadsheet models of simple pendulum motion. In two of them, the graph of the pendulum angle is drawn upon the exact integral solution using numeric integration – the simpler model only uses spreadsheet functions, the general model

La période oratoire dans les remontrances parlementaires (entre la fin du xvie et le début du xviiie siècle)

open access: yesCahiers d’Études Germaniques
What forms do periods take in French discourse, with what uses and effects? The study of a particular category of discourse allows us to develop this reflection: parliamentary remonstrances, which constitute an institutional genre of oratory whose form ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
