Periodic orbits near equilibria via averaging theory of second order

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2012
Lyapunov, Weinstein and Moser obtained remarkable theorems giving sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits emanating from an equilibrium point of a differential system with a first integral.

A note on methods with 0(H4) and 0(H6) phase lags for periodic

open access: yes, 1985
Two families of computational methods are discussed for the solution of second order periodic initial value problems. The first is a family with 0(H4) phase-lag which contains the recently published "Numerov made explicit" method of Chawla [2].

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Periodic solutions of non-autonomous second order systems with p-Laplacian

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
We prove the existence of periodic solutions for non-autonomous second order systems with p-Laplacian. Our main tools are the minimax methods in critical point theory. Our results are new, even when p=2.

A note on phase-lag computations for multiderivative methods for second order periodic initial value problems

open access: yes, 1985
Phase—lag computations are carried out for a family of two-step multiderivative methods for solving second order initial value problems of the form y" = f(t,y), y(t0) = y0, y'(t0) = z0.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
