Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Dynamic Analysis of a Phytoplankton-Fish Model with Biological and Artificial Control

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2014
We investigate a nonlinear model of the interaction between phytoplankton and fish, which uses a pair of semicontinuous systems with biological and artificial control. First, the existence of an order-1 periodic solution to the system is analyzed using a

Periodic solutions of a delayed, periodic logistic equation

open access: yesApplied Mathematics Letters, 2003
AbstractConsider the delayed periodic logistic equation, N(t)=N(t) [a(t)-b(t)Np(t-σ(t))-c(t)Nq(t−T(t))], which describes the evolution of a single species. The existence of a positive periodic solution is established by using the method of coincidence degree.

Permanence and Periodic Solution of Predator-Prey System with Holling Type Functional Response and Impulses

open access: yes, 2007
We considered a nonautonomous two dimensional predator-prey system with impulsive effect. Conditions for the permanence of the system and for the existence of a unique stable periodic solution are obtained.

Almost periodic solution in distribution for stochastic differential equations with Stepanov almost periodic coefficients

open access: yes, 2017
This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of ($\mu$-pseudo) almost periodic mild solution to some evolution equations with Stepanov ($\mu$-pseudo) almost periodic coefficients, in both determinist and stochastic cases.

Endoglin mediates the tumor‐ and metastasis‐promoting traits of stromal myofibroblasts in human breast carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Carcinoma‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumors influence cancer progression. We identified endoglin (ENG) as a key factor in TGF‐β signaling in myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs), linked to poor breast cancer outcomes. Inhibiting ENG on myCAFs suppressed the TGF‐β‐Smad2/3 pathway, reducing primary tumor growth and metastasis.

Existence of Periodic Solutions and Stability of Zero Solution of a Mathematical Model of Schistosomiasis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
A mathematical model on schistosomiasis governed by periodic differential equations with a time delay was studied. By discussing boundedness of the solutions of this model and construction of a monotonic sequence, the existence of positive periodic ...

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Topological Character of a Periodic Solution in Three-Dimensional Ordinary Differential Equation System

open access: yes, 1982
The torsion number of a periodic solution of a three-dimensional Ordinary Differential Equation (3-dim. O.D.E.) is defined. It characterizes the local structure of the flow around the periodic solution.

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...
