A Photometric Survey for Variables and Transits in the Field of Praesepe with KELT
The Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope (KELT) project is a small aperture, wide-angle search for planetary transits of solar-type stars. In this paper, we present the results of a commissioning campaign with the KELT telescope to observe the open ...

Why emerging leaders should focus on being good postdoctoral supervisors
Swamped with work and suddenly a new student is waiting at your doorstep for supervision? Great—this is your chance! In this article, we share tips on how postdocs can strengthen their leadership skills while supervising students. This image has been created using DALL·E. Many postdocs work as leaders later in their career.

Period doubling and Blazhko modulation in BL Herculis hydrodynamic models
We present the hydrodynamic BL Herculis-type models which display a long-term modulation of pulsation amplitudes and phases. The modulation is either strictly periodic or it is quasi-periodic, with the modulation period and modulation pattern varying ...

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Measuring White Dwarf Variability from Sparsely Sampled Gaia DR3 Multi-epoch Photometry
White dwarf stars are ubiquitous in the Galaxy, and are essential to understanding stellar evolution. While most white dwarfs are photometrically stable and reliable flux standards, some can be highly variable, which can reveal unique details about the ...

ROTSE All Sky Surveys for Variable Stars I: Test Fields
The ROTSE-I experiment has generated CCD photometry for the entire Northern sky in two epochs nightly since March 1998. These sky patrol data are a powerful resource for studies of astrophysical transients.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Variability of Young Massive Stars in the Galactic Super Star Cluster Westerlund 1
This paper presents the first optical variability study of the Westerlund 1 super star cluster in search of massive eclipsing binary systems. A total of 129 new variable stars have been identified, including the discovery of 4 eclipsing binaries that are

This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Multimode δ Sct stars from the Zwicky Transient Facility Survey
We obtain the largest catalog of multimode δ Sct stars in the northern sky to date using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) Data Release 20. The catalog includes 2254 objects, of which 2181 are new to our study.
